I cannot believe that 2021 is almost gone, and like the end of 2019, we are still having to deal with Covid-19. When will it end?? Never??
The mid-December tornados that devastated the heartland did minor damage to the NCM and caused a fire at the Corvette Assembly plant. Corvette assembly was suspended for a week. However, significant damage was incurred at the NCM Motorsport Park, and it will remain closed for some time. The chapter has made a $100 donation for toys for the kids who lost everything in Kentucky. Financially the chapter is sound and membership remains about constant from year to year.
But onto happier subjects. Everyone who attended the Christmas party at Paul and Mary Meyer’s home had a great time, and if they left hungry, that was their own fault. The chapter extends a very well deserved THANK YOU to both Mary and Paul.
There are several upcoming events for which registration is open: a tech session, judging school, social event, and the REGIONAL in Greenville, SC, May 19-21. The best way to get the most out of your NCRS membership is to participate, so plan on attending these events.
The Regional, if it is to be successful, requires the support of volunteer workers. Steven Heck is the volunteer manager for the regional, so contact Steven at sheck327@gmail.com and tell him when you help. See Page 5 for complete information.
Also note that at the regional, we have space for inside vendor set-up. If you want to sell some parts, sign up for a spot and remember if power feeds are needed, there is an extra fee.
Past the Regional and fall judging event, nothing has been planned. We hope to have the fall judging event at Banner Elk, NC, in September; the date depends on ASU’s football schedule. We do need HELP with events. Do you have a project that can be the subject of either a technical session or a judging school? Are you willing to chair this year’s picnic, which involves picking a location and organizing the event? Do you have a suggestion for a road tour? The success of the chapter depends on members coming forth and volunteering to support the chapter activities. Yes, you have heard this before, but it is true. If you have any suggestions, contact Bob Kinstrey (rbkinstrey@aol.com).
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. Keep driving your Corvettes as you only live once.
