I can’t believe it; 2020 is finally coming to a close. It has been quite a year with Corvid-19 and politics. The chapter is financially sound and currently we have 136 members. We lost three good friends this year: Carlton Tyson, Bob Harper, and Dick Whittington. The latter two were founding members.
The chapter fared better than most others, even though we had to cancel several events. We were able to get in two events before Corvid hit, and we have just completed our fall judging event and annual meeting. Two more events are scheduled: a tour of the Holman Moody race shop in November and our annual Christmas gathering at Paul and Mary Meyer’s house on December 5.
The fall judging event was great despite the very wet weather, wearing of masks, lots of hand sanitizer, social distancing, etc. See Fred’s report for more details. Thanks to all who came and participated, especially the car owners and judges.
At the annual meeting we elected next year’s officers: Chairman Bob Kinstrey, Vice Chairman Chip Drennan, Judging Chairman Fred Jenkins, Secretary Steve Heck, and Treasurer Kirk Turner. Louis Kolb, our current treasurer, has decided to retire after serving for 11 years. Thank you, Louis.
The following positions were appointed: The Redline Times Editor Reba Whittington, Membership Manager Janet Kennedy, Charity Activities Manager and Registrar Paula Culbertson, Accessories Manager Alan Beaver, Webmaster Peter Stout and Ex-officio Past Chairman Dave Barrett.
During the annual meeting it was decided to continue funding our existing charities, St Jude Children’s Hospital and the Gary Sinise Foundation. The proposed revision to the bylaws was also approved. Both of these actions were approved by a unanimous vote.
The virtual charity drive was a tremendous success. It raised over $1900 to be added to the total from the few events we were able to hold. At the annual meeting, Paula and Ray Culbertson donated an NCRS computer bag which was raffled off for $194 to be added to the total. Thank you, Paula and Ray.
For next year we have events planned for January (judging school), March (Spring judging at Hendrick’s), and a judging school or tech session at the Kennedys’ in May. We need input/suggestions, help and support for the remainder of the year. If you have an idea or a project you need help with, please let me know.
Stay safe and I hope to see you at an event soon.
