Salvaging what remains of 2020

This has been a very unusual year due to Corvid-19, protests/riots, and politics. Hope everyone has been healthy, stayed safe and maintained their sanity. Pauline and I are trying.

Like many of the other chapters, we have had to cancel several events this year as a precaution and for the safety of our members. Childress Winery did refund our deposit thanks to the efforts of Duane Ravenberg.

As this issue goes to press, the Carolinas Chapter has three events on its 2020 schedule. We still plan on having the fall judging event at Clemson on October 9-10. We will be following the National NCRS Corvid-19 guidelines as well as those in place by the Best Western and SC. If you have a temperature, please do not plan on attending.

At this event we will also have our annual meeting, election of officers and a vote on accepting the proposed changes/updating of our bylaws. We need someone to fill the treasurer’s position as Louis has decided to retire after 11 years of service. Thanks, Louis. If you are interested in the position, please call me.

If the Corvid-19 situation dictates that the face-to-face annual meeting has to be cancelled, we will have the annual meeting via Zoom. Details will follow if this becomes necessary.

Many of you have been enjoying participating in the online judging schools offered by several of the chapters. I have participated in a few and have found them informative.

By now you all should have gotten one of the chapter’s new cling decals. I hope you like them. We need to thank Janet Kennedy for taking the time to mail these to our members. Thank you, Janet. Others are available for purchase by contacting Janet.

Dave Barrett has arranged a tour of the Holman-Moody shop and museum for November 14. Registration for that opens September 14, and there is a form is in this newsletter or online.

The final scheduled event for 2020 is the Christmas party, December 5, to be hosted by Paul Meyer at his home in Waxhaw, NC. Details for that will be in the November Redline Times.

The 2021 spring judging meet is set for March 5-6 and is shaping up. This will be inside the Hendrick Team Center in Concord, NC. The host hotel is the Hampton Inn, Concord.

Again, stay safe and I hope to see you in Clemson.
