Greetings. I hope everyone continues to be safe and healthy. COVID-19 seems to be lingering a lot longer than anticipated. Consequently, the BOD has had to react to the everchanging forecast and reschedule/modify events as a result. Much to my dismay, the national board has again cancelled this year’s Chapter Top Flight program due to the virus.
Your BOD had a virtual meeting on Feb 8. Minutes from that are included later in this issue of The Redline Times. Speaking of The Redline Times, the newsletter’s masthead has been restored to its original glory thanks to the efforts of Reba’s sister. Check out the improvement on Page 1.
We have successfully transitioned the treasurer’s activities from Louis Kolb to Kirk Turner. This was no small task, but it is now done, thanks to all the assistance by the staff at several BB&T branches.
We had to cancel March’s two-day event at the Hendrick location as that facility is locked down due to COVID-19. But we were able to reschedule it as a oneday mini-meet at a facility in Indian Land, SC, thanks to help from Jimmy Gregg.
Jimmy also provided the space and material for last weekend’s judging school on reproduction parts and deduction guidelines for them. The event was informative with 13 members attending. This was the chapter’s second judging school of the year, following the first at Chip Drennan’s, which was also well attended.
The 25th anniversary celebration will be a picnic at Darrell Hinklin’s house on Saturday, August 14. There will be a silent auction to raise money for our charities. If you have something you don’t need but think someone does, bring it to Darrell’s. Also, if you would like to serve on the planning committee, give me a call.
Twenty-fifth anniversary shirts are now available. Complete details and an order form are found later in this issue. Get your order in to Alan. We are going to wrap up orders by the end of May. We were hoping to have the fall judging event and annual meeting in Banner Elk; however, the hotel couldn’t accommodate us, so we will return to the Holiday Inn Express in Wilkesboro and hold the event on September 10-11.
As always Reba needs technical articles for The Redline Times and your BOD needs assistance with various chapter programs, e. g. technical sessions, judging schools, etc. Stay safe and stay healthy but get out and drive those Corvettes.
