Things are looking up!

Times are a-changing. People are getting vaccinated, spring is in full bloom; people are getting their cars out; chapters are having events; and the national is in the final planning stages for this year’s National Convention in Palm Springs, CA. I’ve made my reservations, have you?

I recently forwarded two $250 checks— one to the Gary Sinise Foundation and one to St Jude Children’s Hospital. These are from the NCRS Foundation as part of its matching fund program. NCRS will match up to $1000 funds donated by a chapter to an approved charity.

COVID-19 is still the bane of our existence and the reason we had to cancel the judging event at Rick Hendrick’s. However, thanks to the work of Jimmy Gregg and Fred Jenkins, our March mini-meet was a great success. Jimmy also did a great job on two recent judging schools. Thanks to all of you who participated; without your support the chapter wouldn’t exist.

Our next event is a tech session at my house in Simpsonville, SC, on May 8. This will be Roman Jaskin’s seminar on gauges and clocks.

The 25th Anniversary picnic is scheduled for August 14 (See p.20), and the contracts for the fall judging event (September 10-11) in Wilkesboro, NC, have been signed.

At the picnic we are going to have a silent auction to raise money for our charities. If you have something related to NCRS, Corvettes, cars or whatever might interest car enthusiasts and you don’t want/need it anymore, consider bringing it to the picnic. Hopefully, you won’t have to take it back home.

We are still looking for someone to host additional technical sessions or judging schools. Do you have a project of interest to the group or do you need help with your project? If so, let me know so we can figure out how to organize an event.

Planning for next year’s Greenville regional (May 2022) is progressing. Contracts for the hotel and convention center have been signed and the $4000 down-payment check has been sent for the rental of the convention center. Our next major hurdle is to find sponsors and people to purchase booth space. If you know of someone that can help, let me know.

As you read the reports in this issue of The Redline Times, you will see that the chapter is healthy. Thanks for helping making this a FACT.

Stay healthy and safe, and I hope to see you at an upcoming event.
