Spring is here!

Spring is springing; robins have arrived, daffodils and Lenten roses are blooming. It is time to get the Corvettes ready for spring drives. Thank you to Ed Harbour and his wife Becky for hosting the Star/Bowtie judging school. I also extend special thanks to Gary Bosselman for traveling from Illinois to head up the

presentation on Star/Bowtie judging and answer questions. The event was well attended and very informative.

The chapter is firming up a couple of events. There will be a judging school in April at Lawrence Shaw’s lake house and a tech session in June at the Kennedy ranch. Registration information for both can be found later in this newsletter. The contract has been signed for the Christmas party in Matthews December 2.

However, we are still struggling to find a location for the fall’s judging event. Typically we would have signed contracts by this point in the year. We had a suggestion about a location in Linville, but after talking with the owner, it just didn’t fit our requirements. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!

The spring judging event at Hendrick Motorsports is looking to be a great event. Five cars are registered for Flight: four C2s and one C3. There will be a chapter BOD meeting on Friday starting at 10:00, all members are welcome to attend. There will also be tour of Mr. Hendrick’s museum for a fee that goes directly to his charities.

By now I suspect everyone has heard that Shannon Urton resigned as NCRS President and NCRS director. Vice President Mark Tully has assumed the presidency and Mike Ingham has been appointed vice president. I wish them all luck in their new endeavors.

Several chapter members are attending the Florida Regional in Lakeland this week and then at the end of March will travel to Corvette Expo, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for the Southeast Chapter judging event. The fall meeting is most important as it is the chapter’s annual meeting and the election of officers. A nomination committee will be formed for the purpose of conscripting a slate of officers for 2024. The most challenging will be the identification of a new chairman candidate.

Stay safe and enjoy driving your Corvette.
